Club Membership

One of the best adventures I’ve ever embarked upon!

If you’re interested in joining us we encourage you to come out and visit us on one of our flying days, and join our listserv to get a feel for what we’re all about.

We are always looking for new members and are especially appreciative of instructors and tow pilots who wish to join our ranks!

Connecticut Soaring Association Membership Types

The following provides a brief description of each type of membership available through CSA. The descriptions are intended as a guide to assist potential new club members understand the differences between each membership type. It is only intended as a guide and not club policy. Club by laws take precedence. If in doubt, talk to a CSA Board Member. A Soaring Society of America membership is required for all CSA members.

Regular Member

331037_472814389419437_786488154_oThis membership allows full use of all club assets and voting privileges for club matters. Requires a membership with SSA. Eligible for Board of Director positions and committee positions. Instruction and use of the club trainer are provided free of charge. A Regular Member pays a one-time membership fee and annual dues.

 

Family Member

470019_389464544421089_12579930_oProvides a Regular Member membership to all members of a family. All participating family members shall have a club application on file with CSA and be members of the SSA. Only one vote per Family membership for voting on club matters. Each member may serve on the Board of Directors unless that member is a minor. More than one member serving on the Board of Directors requires Board approval. All family members are eligible to serve on a committee.  Instruction and use of the club trainer are provided free of charge. A Family Membership pays a one-time membership fee and annual dues.

 

 

Associate Member

615275_495254287175447_2144182670_oThis membership provides use of all club equipment with the exception of the 2-33 for casual use. The 2-33 may be used for a biannual flight review with prior approval by the Board of Directors. Requires membership with SSA. Associate members cannot be on the Board of Directors but may serve on a club committee.  Membership fee may be applied to a Regular or Family Membership fee. This membership type is intended for the glider pilot who owns his/her own aircraft and do not need the use of DSA glider(s) other than for a biannual. An Associate Membership pays a one-time membership fee and annual dues.

Instructor Member

467264_412151328819077_471784502_oThis membership is an honorary membership requiring Board of Directors approval. Requires annual review/approval by Board of Directors. No membership fee. Club 2-33 only to be used for training of club members, performing biannual flight reviews for club members and personal biannual. (no personal use of club glider(s). ) Requires membership with the SSA. May a hold position on the Board of Directors. May serve on a club committee.  No annual dues other than SSA membership fee.

 

Tow Pilot Member

Towpilot BillThis membership is an honorary membership requiring Board of Directors approval. Requires annual review/approval by Board of Directors. No membership fee. Full use of all club assets. Voting privileges for club matters. Requires membership with SSA. May hold a position on Board of Directors unless approved by the Board. May serve on a club committee.  No annual dues other than SSA membership fee.

Youth Member

54637_495248377176038_126157446_oThis membership allows full use of all club assets but no voting privileges. Requires parent or guardian approval. Requires membership with SSA. Cannot hold position on Board of Directors but may serve on a club committee.  Membership fee may be applied to a Regular Membership fee at age 18. Youth must be accompanied at the airport by a parent or guardian unless otherwise approved by the Board of Directors.
